Nappies for Russia

I just had to blog to say that we have received our first cash donation of $200! Brilliant - that’s 6-8 packages paid to be sent!

The nappies are rolling in too, with lots of interstate coordinators having bags full to send already - and I have collected quite a few myself.

I”ll get the ashgrove PO Box’s contents tomorrow, so that should be very exciting!

Hi Everyone!

After spending the weekend in bed with tonsilitis, I was so pleased to get up this morning and see so many emails and guestbook entries!

I’m now starting to see a pattern in the questions frequently asked, so I’ve added an FAQs page to the website. Please check it out!

Just to let you know, I only get to Ashgrove once a week on Thursdays, so that is when I will get everything that has been posted, and will notify you to say thankyou on the same day or on friday. If you don’t include your contact details then obviously I won’t be able to say thankyou, so if you have forgotten, please email me to ask, giving a description of the parcel.

We have had heaps more pledged and sent, so I’m expecting a big bundle on Thursday! Thanks also to the wonderful area coordinators who are doing a great job - they’re all much more organised than me!

Hi Everyone,

Well we have had a big bit of news - Happy Baby are going to be making a bulk donation of Snappis - 144 in fact! YAY! Lots of people have offered items and cash, and some lovely small businesses selling nappies have offered special nappies and accessories, as well as auction items. Have a look at the corporate sponsorship page to check it out.

At a complete guess, I would think there will be about 500 nappies pledged to date!

Ok, so I posted this on essential baby today.

WOW - got a huge response. Many wonderful mums (and possibly some dads - I don’t know!) offered donations of cash and nappies. Some have signed up to be area coordinators, and one is even organising a nappy sew a thon! Who would have thought it would be a cause that would appeal to so many!

By the looks of it, 100 packages might not have been too ambitious after all.

I have decided I cannot update the progress table with pleged donations, only donations received, as it is too hard to keep track. so just because the table hasn’t been inflated, doesn’t mean there isn’t big things waiting to arrive.

Well I have a couple of encouraging bits of news. The wonderful Kate has ALREADY (since Thursday!)knitted a pair of shorties (woolen nappy cover/soaker) and has offered her pattern, so we will post that here shortly, for anyone to use for sewing for the babies. Just remember to use 100% wool.

I have also contacted some businesses about making bulk donations - we’ll see how we go. I have also been given permission to post the request for help on Essential Baby, so hello to all those members come from there! Hopefully this will be a big step to get more people on board and get the nappies flowing in.
